Amsterdam isn’t a place usually associated with country music, but Silas J. Dirge is here to change that.
The name is a moniker of songwriter Jan Kooiker, whose story-driven lyrics explore subjects like death, lost religion and love, all played on a beat-up acoustic guitar.
New single ‘Devil’s In Town’ is a metaphor about making a pact with the devil, and it going awry. The single tails ‘Flowers on her Grave’, a country murder ballad about Rosie and the peculiar misfortunes plaguing the people who get too close to her resting place.
This was a surprise in the best way, and we can’t wait to see what Silas produces in his upcoming sophomore album.
