“Just Another” is a collaboration between model and drag superstar Lady Lloyd and Kinky Roland (aka the one and only Boy George).
It’s vibrant and addictive pop, driven by a sublime house beat. Everything from the music, lyrics and video is effortlessly cool.
It’s also witty and carries some interesting ideas. The track itself is about the threads between style and substance, “high” art and “low” art, celebrity culture and social media.
Kim Kardashian is referenced repeatedly throughout. But as Lady Lloyd notes:
“It’s not a diss against the Kardashians, it’s more of a take on our obsession with Love Island and Instagram, where the answer to life lies in looking like Kim Kardashian. It’s just so naff, I’m physically repulsed by naffness.”
